Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 21, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Lovity collects when you use our application, website, and related services (together, the “Service”), why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to everyone who uses the Service.

Where this policy uses the word “cookies”, please refer to our Cookies Policy for the full detail on those technologies.

1. Who we are

Lovity is operated by the entity that contracts with you in your region (“Lovity”, “we”, “us”, “our”). That entity is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. If you are unsure which entity is your controller, contact us at privacy@lovity.app and we will confirm it for you.

2. Where this policy applies

This policy covers the Lovity mobile app, the Lovity website at the primary domain we operate, and any other Lovity-branded experience that links to this policy. It does not apply to third-party services we link to from within the app (for example, an external article or a partner’s site), which are governed by their own policies.

3. Data we collect

We collect personal data in three ways.

a. Data you give us directly.

  • Account data. Email address, password (stored as a salted hash), date of birth, and the username you choose.
  • Profile data. Photos, self-description, gender, height, weight, location string, and any other field you fill in on your profile.
  • Questionnaire data. Your answers to the interests questionnaire (relationship goal, interests, lifestyle, dealbreakers, and your free-text “ideal partner” description). This is used to personalise AI compatibility analysis.
  • Messages and content. The chat messages you send, the gifts you send, and any other content you post inside the Service.
  • Payment data. When you buy credits, a feature unlock, or a subscription, our payment partner collects your billing details. We receive a transaction reference, the amount, the product you bought, and the outcome (success / failure). We do not store full card numbers.
  • Support correspondence. The contents of any message you send to support, plus the metadata of that exchange.

b. Data we generate when you use the Service.

  • Activity data. Who you liked, passed on, matched with, blocked, and reported; visits to other members’ profiles; messages sent and received; AI features used.
  • Device and technical data. IP address, approximate location derived from that IP, device type, operating system, browser, language, time zone, and crash diagnostics.
  • Cookies and similar. Session and preference cookies, web beacons, local storage, and mobile SDKs. See our Cookies Policy.
  • AI inputs and outputs. When you use AI features such as compatibility scoring or chat replies, we process the relevant context (your profile, the candidate profile, recent chat history) through our AI model provider and store the resulting reply or score.

c. Data we get from third parties.

  • Sign-in providers. If you sign in using an external provider, we receive the limited profile information that provider shares (typically a stable identifier, your name, and your email).
  • Payment processors. The transaction outcome and any chargeback or refund information.
  • Fraud and safety partners. Signals that help us detect bots, multi-accounting, and abusive behaviour.

4. Why we use your data, and the legal basis

We use your personal data only for the purposes set out below. The legal basis depends on your region; we describe the basis that applies in the UK/EEA in brackets.

  • To provide the Service to you. Create and maintain your account, show you potential matches, run the chat, deliver paid features, and process gifts. (Performance of the contract between you and us.)
  • To personalise your experience. Use your profile, activity, and questionnaire data to rank suggestions, adapt the AI compatibility analysis to you, and remember your preferences. (Performance of the contract, or your consent for optional features.)
  • To keep the Service safe. Detect fraud and abuse, enforce community rules, investigate reports, and protect Lovity and our members from harm. (Legitimate interests in running a safe platform; compliance with legal obligations.)
  • To support you and communicate with you. Respond to support requests, send transactional emails (account confirmations, payment receipts, policy updates), and notify you about activity that involves you. (Performance of the contract; legitimate interests.)
  • To improve and develop the Service. Understand how features are used, prioritise improvements, debug issues, and run A/B tests. We rely on aggregated or pseudonymised data for this wherever possible. (Legitimate interests.)
  • To market the Service (where permitted). Send you optional marketing messages about new features, and measure the effectiveness of campaigns that drove you to us. (Your consent, withdrawable at any time.)
  • To meet legal and regulatory obligations. Respond to lawful requests from authorities, keep records that the law requires (for example tax records), and exercise or defend legal claims. (Compliance with legal obligations; legitimate interests.)

5. Automated decisions and AI features

Lovity uses automation to rank potential matches and to generate AI-powered features such as compatibility scoring, profile suggestions, and bot replies in the chat prototype. These operations rely on the data you provide and on the AI model providers we work with.

We do not take decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you using automated processing alone. Where AI is used for moderation (for example, flagging potentially abusive content), a Lovity team member reviews any action that meaningfully affects access to your account before it is taken.

6. How we share your data

We share personal data only as described below. We do not sell your personal data.

  • With other members. Information you choose to display on your profile (photos, username, description, age, location, etc.) is visible to other members, consistent with your settings. Messages you send are visible to their recipient.
  • With service providers acting on our behalf. Cloud hosting, database, email delivery, payment processing, customer support tools, error monitoring, analytics, and AI model providers. These vendors process the data only for us and under written agreements.
  • For safety, security, and legal reasons. With law-enforcement, regulators, or other parties when we are required to by law, when we need to enforce our terms, or when disclosure is necessary to prevent harm.
  • In connection with a corporate transaction. If Lovity is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the receiving party honouring this Privacy Policy or notifying you of any material change.
  • With your consent. Anywhere else, only if you direct us to share your data with a third party.

7. How affiliated companies work together

Where Lovity is part of a group of affiliated companies, we may share personal data within the group for the purposes described above — primarily to provide the Service across regions, support our shared engineering and security infrastructure, and run consolidated business analytics. Affiliated companies that receive your data are bound by this Privacy Policy.

8. International data transfers

Lovity operates globally, which means your personal data may be transferred to, stored, or processed in countries other than the one you live in. Some of those countries may not provide the same level of data-protection law as your home country.

Where we transfer personal data outside the UK or EEA, we rely on legal transfer mechanisms recognised by the relevant supervisory authority, including the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK’s International Data Transfer Addendum, together with appropriate supplementary measures where required.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have some or all of the following rights over your personal data:

  • Access. Get a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification. Correct inaccurate or incomplete data, which you can do for most fields directly in your profile settings.
  • Erasure. Ask us to delete your account and the personal data associated with it. You can do this from your account settings; deletion is subject to the retention rules in Section 10.
  • Restriction and objection. Ask us to limit how we process your data or object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
  • Portability. Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format and have it transmitted to another controller where technically feasible.
  • Withdraw consent. Where we rely on your consent (for example marketing emails or optional AI features), you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
  • Complain to a supervisory authority. You can lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority in your country.

To exercise any of these rights, write to privacy@lovity.app. We may need to verify your identity before we act on a request.

10. How long we keep your data

We keep your personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy. In particular:

  • While your account is active. We keep the data needed to run your account and the Service.
  • After you delete your account. Most personal data is deleted promptly after your account is deleted. We may keep a limited subset for a short period to deal with outstanding disputes, fraud investigations, or backup recovery.
  • For legal reasons. Records we are legally required to retain (such as transaction records for tax purposes) are kept for the duration that law requires.
  • For safety. If your account is banned for serious violations, we keep a minimal record so that we can enforce the ban and prevent re-registration.

11. Children's privacy

The Service is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a person under 18, we will delete it and terminate the account. If you believe a child is using the Service, please report it to support@lovity.app.

12. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will notify you in-app or by email before the change takes effect, and we will update the “Effective date” at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.

13. How to contact us

For general support enquiries, write to support@lovity.app.

For privacy-specific enquiries, including data-subject rights requests, write to privacy@lovity.app. Where required by law, we will identify the Data Protection Officer or local representative for your jurisdiction in our response.
