Cookies Policy

Effective date: May 21, 2026

1. About this Cookies Policy

This Cookies Policy explains how Lovity uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website or use our mobile application (together, the “Service”), the choices you have, and how to exercise them. It complements our Privacy Policy, which describes more broadly how we handle personal data.

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit it. They typically contain the name of the site that placed them, an expiration date, a unique identifier, and sometimes additional information about your settings or activity on the site.

Cookies allow a site to remember information about your visit (such as whether you are signed in, your preferred language, or items in a basket) and to recognize your device on subsequent visits.

3. Types of cookies we use

Cookies can be grouped along two dimensions: who places them, and how long they last.

First-party vs third-party. First-party cookies are set directly by Lovity from the domain you are visiting. Third-party cookies are set by a partner whose code runs on our pages (for example, an analytics or anti-fraud provider). We use both, with third-party cookies limited to vendors that help us operate, secure, and improve the Service.

Session vs persistent. Session cookies are temporary and are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device for a defined period or until you delete them; we use persistent cookies for things like keeping you signed in across visits or remembering your interface preferences.

4. Other tracking technologies (web beacons, pixels, SDKs)

Cookies are not the only mechanism we use to recognize your device or understand how the Service is used. Similar technologies include:

  • Web beacons / pixels. Tiny transparent images embedded in pages or emails that let us know when a page is viewed, a link is clicked, or an email is opened.
  • Tracking URLs. Custom URLs that record which campaign or link sent you to the Service.
  • Software Development Kits (SDKs). Pieces of code embedded in our mobile app that perform a similar role to cookies on the web — for example, recording crashes, measuring performance, or attributing app installs to a particular ad.
  • Local storage. Data the Service stores in the browser’s own local-storage or session-storage APIs, which behave similarly to cookies but are not sent automatically with each request.

Throughout this policy, references to “cookies” should be read as including these similar technologies where the context allows.

5. What we use cookies for

We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

  • Strictly necessary. Keeping you signed in, maintaining a secure session, remembering items in flows that span multiple pages, balancing load between our servers, and protecting the Service against fraud and abuse. For example, when you sign in we set a session cookie (such as dating_session_id) that tells our servers which member is making each request. Without these cookies the Service cannot function and they are set whenever you use it.
  • Preferences. Remembering choices you make, such as your interface language, dark/light theme, and discovery filters, so you don’t have to set them on every visit.
  • Analytics and performance. Understanding how members find and use the Service, which features are popular, and where things break. We use this aggregated data to prioritise improvements and to investigate bugs.
  • Marketing and attribution. Measuring whether our advertisements are effective and attributing sign-ups or purchases to the campaigns that drove them. We do not allow third parties to use these cookies to build behavioural advertising profiles unrelated to Lovity.
  • Safety and integrity. Detecting bots, brute-force login attempts, and suspicious activity, and enforcing our community rules.

6. How you can control cookies

You have several options for controlling or limiting how cookies and similar technologies are used:

  • In Lovity. Where consent-based cookies are used in your jurisdiction, you will see a consent banner the first time you visit the site, and you can update your choices at any time from your account settings.
  • In your browser. Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies from their settings menu. Look for “Privacy”, “Cookies”, or “Site data”. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent the Service from working.
  • On your device. Mobile operating systems offer controls for ad tracking and unique identifiers; consult the documentation for your platform (iOS or Android).
  • Industry programs. In some regions, industry self-regulatory programs such as the Digital Advertising Alliance and the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance let you opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies.

If you disable cookies, some features (such as staying signed in, remembering your filters, or completing a purchase) may not work as expected.

7. Google services

We use services provided by Google, including (where applicable) Google Analytics for usage analytics and Google Maps for location features. These services may set their own cookies and collect data about how the Service is used.

For more information about how Google handles this data, see Google’s Privacy & Terms and the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
